The Eight Planets Rap

So, why did the Big Bang Bang?

I really don’t know why.

But it left us with Eight Planets.

Let’s look up in the sky.

The closest planet out there

to the sun

is the planet Mercury.

Let’s call it Planet One.

It’s the fastest planet out there

as it orbits around the sun

It was clearly built for speed

and that’s how it has fun.

The next planet out there

that we get to view

is the hottest planet Venus.

Let’s call it Planet Two.

It is really hot up there.

We’re talking hundreds of degrees

That’s more than hot enough

to melt a lot of cheese.

The next planet that

we get to see.

is the Earth we’re living on.

Let’s call it Planet Three.

It is the only one of eight

that supports life

So, this is the only planet

you could possibly find a wife.

The next planet out there

That so many adore

is the planet Mars.

Let’s call it Planet Four.

The Big Red planet

many want to Terra Form

so that we can heat it up

and make it nice and warm.

The next planet on which

we will arrive

is the planet Jupiter.

Let’s Call it Planet Five.

It is the biggest planet out there

A huge giant gas ball

I’m not sure what’s keeping it up

I just hope it doesn’t fall.

The next planet

in our bag of tricks

is the ringed planet Saturn.

Let’s call it Planet Six.

It’s the second largest planet

made mostly of hydrogen.

A lifeless planet

devoid of all men.

The next planet

that is way up close to heaven

is the planet Uranus.

Let’s call it Planet Seven

It’s the third largest Planet.

A huge Giant of Ice

It has the coldest atmosphere.

You wouldn’t find it very nice.

The last planet that

we do await

is the planet Neptune.

Let’s call it Planet Eight.

It’s another Ice Giant.

The windiest of them all.

It’s way too windy up there

to play baseball.

Oh, first we had nine planets.

I was taught that that was so.

Then the IAU got mad

and kicked out poor Pluto.

Now we’re left with only eight

and it’s messing with my mind.

What did Pluto do

to get the boot in the behind?
